Job description
My client rerquires a talented and progressive individual to manage the transition from existing to new facilities and to manage the new services once established.In the implementation phase, full support will be given to the successful candidate by external consultants to help define and deliver the transition programme and provide him/her with valuable exposure to project management techniques as employed by a leading specialist provider. Once the service is operational, the post offers a tremendous opportunity for the right individual to develop the stores services provision for the future, and to take a role in influencing wider UK stores strategy and design. The Stores Manager is responsible for the provision of defined stores services to agreed service levels, with the challenge to provide at a cost lower than the units current levels, within designated target timeframes. Main activities are:- Act as principal point of contact for external consultants in project phase; Merging of all the current stores functions with effective utilisation of all resources; Alignment of all working practices, both within Stores and broader business supply chains; Implement lean principles and industry best practice to achieve lower cost overall; Effective supervision of staff to control the activities associated with the receipt storage and kitting of all materials related to the MRP System; Liaising closely with Production Control & Material Supply to ensure the quality / integrity of inventory; Ensure improvements in the processes associated with the control of inventory are continuously reviewed; Identification of further service improvements and cost reduction opportunities covering Stores, IT systems and logistics; Optimisation of overall stores volume through improved use of space and removal of all waste/obsolete stock. Candidates should possess a Minimum ONC/HNC in Production/Engineering discipline. combined with membership of CILT or similar and have 5/7 years experience in warehehousing or manufacturing industry, including working knowledge of Inventory / Material Management environments, with project management experience. You should have the ability to project manage a team to achieve integration, service and schedule requirements whilst minimising costs and have a good understanding of stores and shipping processes in addition to the ability to understand and interpret Inventory accounting procedures.
